Over the next several weeks we are going to be learning the fruit of the Spirit. My plan is to provide a quick and easy lesson for each fruit of the Spirit along with a fun craft. I'll share additional Bible verses that our family is using to re-enforce the concepts of each fruit as well as songs that we are using in our house to help us memorize and live out Galatians 5:22-23!
But, the thing I am the MOST excited about is that each week I am going to include a challenge for the parents that goes along with the fruit we are talking about. I have to admit that this idea was totally born from the realization as I started preparing for this series that I needed some work in
So, are you game? I'd love to know if you are interested in going through this little series with us here at When You Rise. Drop us a note in the comments! Also, if there are any specific things you think might be good additions to our study we'd LOVE to know!
In closing I wanted to share a couple of great resources (I know there are MANY out there but I am just listing a couple today) for you if you want to get your mind rolling!

I like the idea of Spirit of God written over the roots of a tree and the fruit hanging off the tree labeled with the different fruits of the Spirit. A picture would do this description better justice, sorry ;) Its absically the idea that unless you are rooted in God, you won't have the fruit!!
ReplyDeleteJoy, that is a great idea! And such truth as well!!! Thank you so much! :) I am already brainstorming how I can incorporate it!!!!
DeleteSounds great to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm in, this is my favorite verse!

ReplyDeleteI am currently going through Beth Moore's bible study on the Fruit of the Spirit and it is AWESOME! I have been looking for and thinking about things that I can do to teach it to my kiddos, too! So excited!
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to doing this!!! Timing couldn't be better!
ReplyDeleteIve been teaching this to my Sunday school class. Doing one fruit per sunday.
ReplyDeleteI would love to do this!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy 2.5yo knows the Fruit of the Spirit by heart along with hand movements for each fruit. He learned it from Bible school. If I can get it on video, I will attach a link.
ReplyDeleteI am excited to bring in some additional methods of teaching the Fruit of the Spirit!! :) Looking forward to this series!
Love this idea! I am so excited to start this with my kiddos at home. The challenge to us parents is a great addition! Can't wait! I just signed up to volunteer in my church's children's programs and am so excited to bring what I learn here to the table. : )
ReplyDeleteJust a comment...while it may be a strange concept for children to grasp, I think we as parents should recognize the truth (and implications) of the fact that it's not "fruitS" of the Spirit... It's fruit of the Spirit. Singular.
ReplyDeleteThis is significant because the Spirit grows the fruit in our lives in equal measure. We can't get away with saying "I just have more of one fruit (joyfulness) and less of another (Self control)." We as believers must honestly look at our lives and whichever part of the fruit of the Spirit is the most "shriveled" is what fruit we are displaying. Anything more in any other area is just our natural inclination.
May be difficult for children to understand, but I think we parents should try not to perpetuate the erroneous reading of the verse as multiple fruits. Just this pastor's wife's $0.02. :)
Hi Jen! Thank you so much for your comment! We are SO glad you are here!!! I appreciate your gentle correction and am so glad that as iron sharpens iron, we as Christians can sharpen each other. :)
DeleteI'm very glad to be here myself! I love your blog; it's a very happy place from which I receive much encouragement in my Walk. :)
DeleteLove in Christ!
Hey! I have just stumbled upon your blog and I am SO excited...it is going to be a great tool as I continue to strive teaching my 3 tiny girls (ages 3, 2, and 4 months) about the Lord. Thank you for the wonderful resources. And I would love to do the Fruit of the Spirit study with them:)
