I close my eyes and I can remember the weariness. I can feel the body aching for rest. I can hear the small baby waking to eat. Again. And then again.
Being a new mama is exhausting. It is wonderful and beautiful and miraculous and all of that, but it is also just plain exhausting. I can say this with absolute confidence because I was just there....in some ways I feel like I still am. Or at least like I am just coming out of the hard parts (for me), nursing and not sleeping through the night.
In the haze and weariness of being a new mama I found myself with a devotional book in my hands. I knew I wasn't going to have time (or the brains) for deep study right away and yet I did not want to miss time with God. Enter the book, Jesus Calling
You don't have to be a new mom or a busy mom or a even a mom to love this devotional. You just have to have a heart ready to hear scripture spoken over your life. The passages are manageable and have left me feeling encouraged and refreshed...even on those days I have felt everything but.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blessing....as the mom of six 17 to 10 months, the busy-ness of life seems to take over and time with God can be pushed aside. What a blessing to have a simple yet profound devotional to help through this season of life... Alizabeth Palmer
ReplyDeleteMom to 3 children ages 7, 6 1/2, and 6 and adopting again next year. I agree with whimzzy1 .. easy to get so busy that God can be put to the side. This devotional sounds like it would be perfect for my hectic and crazy (yet wouldn't change it for anything) life! Thanks for letting me know about this book.

ReplyDeleteOh how I can relate. If I am being honest, most days are challenging. My son is 21 months old and he brings a lot of joy to my life, but wow I have never been rocked liked motherhood has rocked me. I have come to know Jesus in a different way, as many days I desperately cling to Him and other days I question Him and so on.
ReplyDeleteI could go on for days, but all of that to say I would love to win this devotional.
