From the Cradle to the Cross - An In-Depth Look at the Life of Christ for Preschoolers

We just finished up our Truth in the Tinsel and I cannot adequately express how thrilled I am with how much of the story of Christ's birth that Isaac retained.  He's really not much into crafts, but these crafts weren't just bookmarks and door hangers.  They had a purpose that actually helped him remember details.  It was organized and fun and Isaac was always excited to get to the next "clue."  (Amanda, from Impress Your Kids, did a fantastic job and I heartily recommend Truth in the Tinsel and her great site to you!)

It was SO good for me to see him embrace this more in-depth approach and got me excited to approach future opportunities with him in a similar way.  I decided it would be perfect to pick up where we left off and continue on the journey of the study of the Savior.  From now until Easter, I'm going to post short studies on the life of Christ with activities and the occasional craft to help Isaac begin to see Jesus as the person who was not only born as a baby at Christmas, but came to save the world as well.  I hope to cover a new story from the life of Christ each week.

I love this phrase that I've been hearing a lot lately:  "from the cradle to the cross."  It captures the purpose of Christ's incarnation and put things into perspective so well.  In our study we'll start with Jesus as a boy in the temple and work our way through the calling of the 12 disciples, some miracles and teachings and land at the Passion Week somewhere around mid-March where we'll do a more in-depth Easter study.  I'm going to provide the printables and links to the websites we use to get our ideas.  I'm hoping it will be easy and practical and help Jesus make sense on a whole new level for Isaac.  If your preschooler is ready to see the life of Christ as a whole instead of random bits and pieces here and there, we hope you'll join us!

  1. oh yay! Please do this! We're so sad that Truth in the Tinsel is over! My kids had a blast doing it and it gave me a regimented guide to sharing Christ with them each day. I would love for you guys to do an Easter follow-up!

  2. Oh that sounds wonderful! We still have a couple of the crafts from Truth in the Tinsel to finish up now that I have all of the materials :)

My daughter(5) so enjoyed it and can't wait to do more! We will continue following your blog posts, and possibly embark on this adventure through Christ's life with you and yours!

    Thank you and God bless!

  4. We always spend 6 weeks or so before Easter preparing and my children have loved every minute of it. I look forward to finding some fresh ideas for this year, especially since I would like to make sure that I'm doing some of this with my youngest son (3.5).
